You can make a difference now!
New Mexico Tech is launching a COVID-19 Emergency Student Relief Fund to assist our students who are suddenly trying to cope with unexpected expenses due to COVID-19, including travel costs to return home, technology needs to participate in online courses, and other essential items.
The COVID-19 crisis presents a challenge unlike anything New Mexico Tech, and all of us, have faced before.
In the next few weeks New Mexico Tech will transition to 100% online instruction. Students are adjusting to the reality of finishing the semester online and without campus resources usually available to them. Faculty and staff are adjusting to working remotely while remaining as accessible as possible to help students through this unprecedented time. If you are familiar with New Mexico Tech culture, this “new normal” is quite different from our characteristic hands-on learning model.
Spring Break has been extended and students have been encouraged to stay home to maintain social distancing. Unfortunately, this leaves many students paying for an apartment they are not living in. Additionally, New Mexico’s stay-at-home order means many students are now out of work because of campus and community closures. This is devastating to their incomes at a time when their families are also facing financial challenges.
Students are sharing with us their fears about adjusting to online instruction, inaccessible on-campus resources, financial insecurity, uncertain future employment or internship opportunities, and how all of this might affect their ability to continue at New Mexico Tech in the Fall.
Your support will help New Mexico Tech assist as many students as possible during this uncertain time.
Every donation will make a difference in the lives of our students. Every act of generosity, no matter the size, will help in the days ahead.
Thank you for being a part of the New Mexico Tech family. Please stay safe and be well.
