On December 22, 2015, the Pound Ridge Swim & Dive Team lost a beloved Alumnus and Coach, Chris Dewey, at the young age of 28. Chris was raised in Pound Ridge, swam with the Pound Ridge Dolphins and eventually went on to coach the team. The Dolphins will honor his passion, heart and commitment to swimming and changing the lives of kids around him by hosting The 3rd Annual Chris Dewey Swim-A-Thon on Saturday, July 21 at the Pound Ridge Town Pool.
This year we are proud to raise funds in Chris’ name to benefit Make-a-Wish. The vision of Make-A-Wish is to grant the wish of every child diagnosed with a critical illness in the United States. Make-A-Wish has made an impact on one of our team members, Molly Henry, who was diagnosed last summer with a bone marrow failure disease called, aplastic anemia. Molly has endured 32 blood transfusion, 5 inpatient hospitalizations and 1 surgery since her diagnosis. While struggling with her illness, Molly connected with Make-A-Wish and was granted a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Nashville to attend CMA Fest. The Henry Family and the Pound Ridge Swim & Dive Team would like to “pay it forward” for another child by focusing our Swim-A-Thon fundraising efforts this year for Make-A-Wish Hudson Valley.
