In the Spring of 2019, I had a sensational idea for a fundraiser about scarecrows and reached out to Johnson County Senior Services to be the benefactor. These special individuals at JCSS that I worked along side this past year are incredibly wonderful, giving folks and I am honored to be considered a volunteer with this non-profit. The organization is 40 years old, grown by leaps and bounds and has outgrown their present donated facility. They struggle in this 165 year old two story comprised home to provide a food pantry, durable medical equipment and free transportation for our most beloved seniors! What started as a couple of vans is now a fleet of specialized delivery vehicles to accommodate all seniors. They have overgrown the parking lot. The heat, a/c & electric works as best it can in the old home. And the business meetings are held between boxes of donated goods and cans of food.
Director Kimberly Smith and her dedicated staff have worked tirelessly to raise a little over half of the $500,000.00 needed to break ground. This desperately needed new facility will be built in 2020 on a donated parcel of land. PLEASE donate this holiday season and New Year to help raise the remaining money needed to help build and outfit this wonderful new facility.
OUR PRECIOUS SENIOR GENERATION NEEDS THIS ASSISTANCE AND JCSS NEEDS OUR HELP!
Thank you! Jeanie Cole
