Never Forget
November 4, 2018, will mark the second anniversary of NYPD Sgt. Paul Tuozzolo making the ultimate sacrifice for the city of New York. On that day, he was protecting the citizens of NYC when he was tragically taken. He was called on to protect a family including a three-year-old child who were being held hostage for several hours. After the subject fled the scene, Sgt Tuozzolo pursued the subject when he was fatally shot. Sgt. Tuozzolo left behind a wife and two beautiful boys along with a legacy to carry on. His sacrifice should and will not be forgotten along with all others who have lost their lives protecting and serving our communities.
Lisa, Austin, and Joseph Tuozzolo are dear friends of mine. I have watched as they continue to forge forward through life after this tragic event. Their life is a marathon, not a sprint. One mile at a time I have observed them pushing ahead. They are getting through the tough miles stronger and more determined than ever.
This November fourth, I will be running the NYC marathon on the anniversary of Sgt. Paul Tuozzolo’s ultimate sacrifice. I am honored to be running in his name alongside others. I have decided to direct my efforts financially to raise money for the Silver Shields Foundation. This not-for-profit Foundation provides educational support for children and widows of police officers and firefighters who have been killed in the line of duty. Being a teacher, daughter of a volunteer firefighter, and a sister of a police officer, this organization connects me not only to Lisa but to my life as well! It is my honor to run for them and to make sure that children and widows of fallen officers are taken care of and never forgotten. I would appreciate any consideration for a donation in Paul’s name to the Silver Shield Foundation.
