On May 21, 2018, the Baltimore County Police Department lost one of their own, when Officer Amy Caprio gave the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty at the young age of 29. This year, I am participating in the Police Week 5K in honor of her memory and sacrifice.
The Police Week 5K raises money for Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.), and the Officer Down Memorial Page (ODMP), and takes place in the week leading up to Peace Officers Memorial Day. This year, the event is taking place on May 11th in Washington, DC, and my goal is to raise $500 for these two great causes. This will be my 5th consecutive year participating in the event, and I have been able to raise over $1,500 total.
Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) provides assistance programs to the families of those left behind after a law enforcement officer dies in the line of duty. This includes scholarships, counseling reimbursement, summer camps, and retreats. The Officer Down Memorial Page (ODMP) brings awareness to those officers who have died in the line of duty, and partners with other groups to equip officers with bulletproof vests, provide lifesaving training, replace K9 officers who die in the service of their duties, and providing them with bulletproof vests as well.
Please consider making a donation for my participation in this race in honor of Amy Caprio, and help these two amazing organizations in accomplishing their missions. Any amount you can give will be greatly appreciated.
