October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The Network is a collaborative membership organization dedicated to improving the lives of those impacted by domestic violence through education, public policy and advocacy. The Network also runs Illinois' domestic violence hotline which is open 24/7 and staffed by trained professionals who can assist callers in over 130 languages.
We are a small organization, and your personal support will make a significant difference to our mission.
-- The number one reason domestic violence survivors stay or return to the abusive relationship is because the abuser controls their money supply, leaving them with no financial resources to break free.
--70x: The amount of times more likely a woman is to be murdered in the few weeks after leaving her abusive partner than at any other time in the relationship.
--In the 1990s, there were more ANIMAL shelters than Domestic Violence shelters
--Domestic Violence is linked to mass shootings, homelessness, female incarceration rates, and child abuse.
