Dear Friends of the Sock Drawer,
On March 21, we will be participating in an annual Bowl-athon for mental health. Last year was the first non-profit event our full team had ever done, and it really started the conversation about how important it is to get involved in your community.
If mental health resonates with you, please consider a small but mighty donation to Transitions-Mental Health Association’s Strike Out Stigma Bowl-athon!
To highlight two of Transitions myriad programs:
Bishop Street Studios
This permanent housing project, built in a former orphanage, will be welcoming its first residents in June! Transitions will be offering housing for 33 clients and one resident manager in studio and 1 bedroom forever homes. http://www.bishopstreetstudios.org/
The High School Program
As the incidence of mental illness increases in our young people nationwide, so grows the list of local high schools we’re reaching! We provide trainings for staff/teachers/counselors/admin in Youth Mental Health First Aid and Suicide Prevention. We also provide training to all Freshmen, with a new curriculum added to HeaIth Classes to teach mental health awareness, self-care options, and how to recognize a fellow student in distress. We’ve just completed a Middle School curriculum to expand our reach.
Transitions operates dozens of programs in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties, offering recovery services of HOUSING, WORK, FAMILY SUPPORT, and COMMUNITY OUTREACH.
MUCH LOVE AND THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
