On February 1, 2020, NEHSA, the New England Healing Sports Association, will be holding it's 35th Annual Ski & Ride-a-thon to fund it's year round activites. Please help me by donating to fund this wonderful organization.
NEHSA was founded by disabled Vietnam veterans in 1970, and has since evolved into a program that provides year-round sports activities to people of all ages and all disabilities. More than 300 dedicated volunteers provide one-on-one instruction in skiing, snowboarding, kayaking and waterskiing annually.
NEHSA remains committed working with disabled veterans and in 1996 began hosting a week-long winter sports clinic for disabled veterans. This year I participated in this clinic for the third time and assisted a Veteran with a below the knee amputation to improve his skiing technique. He never skiied prior to his amputation, and seeing him ski down the mountain was an inspiration.
NEHSA also provides comprehensive sports program with local school children in New Hampshire and Vermont.
The Demby family has been involved with NEHSA for over 15 years. Both Evan and Charlotte learned to ski through NEHSA, and I've volunteered as an adaptive ski instruction for over 10 years. I've participated in a number of events servicing disabled veterans, and have taught adults and children with both physical and cognitive disabilities to ski.
NEHSA operates out of the Mount Sunapee Ski resort in Sunapee, NH. If you want more information please check out their website at www.nehsa.org.
Any donation, large or small, will go a long way to providing adults and children with disabilities opportunities to participate in sports. You can make your donations on-line, with a credit card, securely, through the GoFundMe website.
If you prefer to donate by check, please make it payable to NEHSA, and mail to:
