Happy Winter Season! And what a strange season it has been so far – either minus 10 or 60 degrees and raining. That being said, another winter is upon us which means it is time for another Ski & Ride-A-Thon at NEHSA! Over the years, I have been truly touched by the support I received from my friends and family in this event. As NEHSA continues to grow its memberships, student-base and year-round adaptive activities, we still need your help.
For those that are unaware, NEHSA stands for the New England HEALING Sports Association. This will be my 10th year volunteering with this distinguished organization. At NEHSA, we ski with the developmentally delayed, quadriplegics, paraplegics, arm and leg amputees, visually impaired, stroke victims, TBIs, those who can only communicate with the help of a computer, those who suffer from PTSD...the list goes on and on. What is so great about NEHSA is that we do not turn anyone away. We always find a way to get our students out on the hill, sometimes very creatively. Despite their disabilities, or rather Abilities, everyone can get outside and enjoy themselves. Spending time with our students, their families, the veterans and the other volunteers reaffirms what an impressive organization NEHSA is.
Check out our recent promotional video and a great homage to our volunteers.
On February 3rd 2018, NEHSA will be hosting the 33rd Annual Ski & Ride-A-Thon to support our year round activities and your pledge can help. A long-time NEHSA “angel” has come forward to challenge us to raise $150,000 during the 2018 winter sports season! When we are successful, this donor will match dollar for dollar, that $150,000 placing us in the best possible position for the construction of our building expansion. I know everyone’s budgets are a little tight right now but every donation will go a long way. Please consider supporting NEHSA which is near and dear to my heart.
You can donate directly online with a credit card. All donations are secure and sent directly to NEHSA by Crowd Rise, who will email you a printable record of your donation.
If you would prefer to donate by check, please make the check payable to NEHSA but send it to me directly:
