Dear parents, alumni, and friends of the Needham Carter Center for Children,
As you may know, the past week has been a doozy for Carter community. Although Carter applied for Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) funding on the first day, like too many small businesses, it did not receive funding. On Monday, Carter was forced to furlough its faculty and staff due to the current pandemic. And on Tuesday, the Governor extended daycare closures from May 4 until at least June 29.
While Carter was not open and did not collect tuition in April, it continued to pay its teachers and staff until the furlough this past Monday. Doing this has dramatically depleted Carter's operating funds.
The benefit of furloughing is that teachers and staff are able to apply for unemployment benefits from the government and at the same time continue to receive health insurance and other benefits from Carter. And this is where we parents, alumni, and friends of Carter can help.
In keeping teachers and staff on the payroll until recently, Carter's operating funds have been dramatically depleted. Going forward, the ongoing costs of providing teachers and staff with health insurance and other benefits for at least two more months will further stretch remaining operating funds to the limit. We can help by making a tax-deductible donation to Carter to strengthen Carter's operating funds.
Making a tax-deductible donation to Carter helps in two key ways:
First, strengthening Carter's operating funds will enable Carter to provide health insurance and other benefits to the teachers and staff during this very painful period.
Second, ensuring Carter has the resources it previously had and continues to need when the school reopens in order to provide the programs and services that we all have come to enjoy and benefit from.
The purpose of this Go Fund Me campaign is to raise money for Carter's operating fund to support ongoing health insurance costs for the faculty and staff (which may be for some time), as well as to replenish Carter's operating fund so that it will have the resources it needs to re-open with the quality and strength we enjoy, whenever that time comes. (Hopefully soon!)
Please consider making a tax-deductible gift (one-time or on a monthly basis) to Carter Center for Children Inc. , a recognized 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Funds donated through this GoFundMe page go directly to Carter, and you will receive documentation that can be used for future tax filings.
Thank you for caring for the same teachers and faculty that care so much for our children.
Lastly, please share the link to this campaign with anyone you know that may be interested in support Carter Center for Children.
THANK YOU !
Please reach out to Lauren, Peggy, and/or Kim if you have any questions.
