Based on the issues with COVID-19 that the world faces today, in 2020 the CCBC is taking on a new format….it will be a virtual paddle. During the week of August 1 – August 8, paddlers across the country will complete a paddle of at least 15 miles in one day. All paddlers will post their routes, pictures and stories on a designated social media page and all paddlers will raise money from family & friends to help support a wonderful non-profit organization in Boston called Christopher’s Haven (www.christophershaven.org). Christopher’s Haven provides housing to children (and their families) who come to Boston for pediatric cancer treatment.
This will be my 11th CCBC and I have been a board member for 12 years. As many of you know, I start training for the CCBC in March as soon as the Central Mass lakes thaw. Training time allows me to think about what the children who stay at Christopher's Haven are going through, as well as family, friends, business associates, and all that I know that are facing physical challenges.
Christopher's Haven was founded in 2001 to help children with cancer. It provides comfortable housing and a supportive community for children receiving cancer treatment in Boston. Children come from all over the country to receive multidisciplinary care that includes surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. These daily outpatient treatments can last up to six to eight weeks. Christopher's Haven allows parents to focus on their child's treatment and recovery. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. Many thanks for your support, especially those who have supported me so generously over the years. Please forward this to anyone who you think also might want to donate.
Thank you very much.
