Hello, world! Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page!
A little bit about me -- my name is Neary Narom. I am a 1.5 generation Cambodian-American born in Vietnam and raised in scattered parts of Philadelphia. My passion lies within empowering Southeast Asian youth with spaces geared with dialectical tools of healing and empathy as well as language and terminologies that will allow folks to articulate their power. This is very much because that is where the beginnings of my political consciousness had reached its starting point -- all due to the love, nurturing, and empowering that I had received from the extended family I had built with at VietLead.
I always knew that the entire compass of my life was nothing like the main-stream image of the Asian American model minority. But in addition to that, I also know that nothing in my life as it is now is purely just a matter of coincidence.
That being said, I have now been blessed enough to participate in a national fellowship for Asian American organizers called Seeding Change where I had been placed at PrSYM. This is where I have had the chance to connect with a team full of badass and predominantly Khmer leaders of Providence who are connected to movement work. This is my first time ever working with a team of radical Khmer people which is something that really means A LOT to me!
That being said, if you feel for a Cambodian American working-class young person like me and believe in Seeding Change's mission to provide the means for young Asian American leaders to engage in movement work then please do consider donating so that we can see many more people like myself continue to rise.
We plant the seeds that one day will grow. We water seeds already planted, Knowing that they hold future promise. -Oscar Romero, “Future Not Our Own”
