Our school is a Title I school located in Malden, Massachusetts, about thirty minutes outside of Boston. This year, we have been able to arrange for our sixth graders to have an incredible opportunity participating in Nature’s Classroom in Freedom New Hampshire for three days and two nights. The Nature’s Classroom program allows students to have hands-on experiences in nature and with topics that expand on our curriculum in an entirely new and unique way. Students have time in field groups, giving them a chance to explore a new environment, and time to participate in specialty classes, allowing them to explore topics of interest outside of the typical classroom environment. Students can explore anything from dissection to woodland music and everything in between.
Our students are incredibly excited about this experience, but the combined cost of the program and transportation is over $200 per student. Being a Title I school, we have a high percentage of economically needy students, but we don’t want the cost of the trip to prevent students from attending.
The sixth grade teachers and students have been doing school-wide fundraisers, but we still need your help. Please consider donating to our cause so that each and every one of our sixth graders can embark on this journey.
Please check out their website to learn more about all the amazing things our students will encounter.
