Hello Nativity Family:
My name is Alex Garcia. My family and I have been part of the Nativity Family for six years. Our journey began in 2015 when we enrolled our son in the TK3 program, and we haven’t looked back. It has been such a beautiful experience seeing our son grow and be nurtured, not only intellectually, but spiritually, by the wonderful staff at Nativity.
This has been a year like no other. I have yet to encounter anyone who has not been affected by the pandemic. Unfortunately, Nativity Catholic School is no different. As you all know, the school depends primarily on tuition to pay our teachers’ salaries as well as to, quite literally, keep the lights on. To date, there have been 140 Catholic schools nationwide which have had to permanently close their doors. To this point, Sister Stacy has been able to keep all staff on payroll thanks to her stewardship and financial care. Years ago, she had the foresight to invest in a rainy-day fund which she hoped she would never have to use, but had to access these past 11 months. This fund has allowed Sister Stacy to not only keep all of our wonderful teachers on payroll, but also help many of our struggling families keep their children in our school. Given the many uncertainties over the past 11 months of the pandemic, fifty students did not enroll in this current school year thus greatly affecting the school’s budget.
These two primary elements have led to a $100,000+ financial gap that I am praying we can close with donations. All Catholic schools depend on fundraisers to help balance the school budget. Since we have missed our In-N-Out Night, the Christmas Program, Family Bingo Nights, and two Casino Nights, the school has lost out on these fundraising opportunities.
Unfortunately, Sister Stacy is currently faced with very difficult decisions including whether she can offer summer school and rehire all teachers for the next school year. We may not be able to help save the summer school program but I am hoping that this GoFundMe page will help recoup some of the money so that when the time comes for all of us to walk back through those beautiful black gates, our school will be stronger than ever. Let us be the embodiment of what those pillars of faith we walk past in the hallway truly represent.
We believe that God created each one of us for a purpose.
We are committed to helping one another
grow and become the person
God intended us to be.
Please share this GoFundMe page with anyone you know who believes a Catholic education is worth investing in for future generations.
