In December 2002 I suffered blood clots in both lungs, was hospitalized, and learned that I was Factor V, so genetically at risk for more clots. I have been on blood thinners ever since and will be for the rest of my life.
Grateful for survival, my family and more days with beautiful sunsets and waterfalls, I started volunteering with the National Blood Clot Alliance (NBCA) in 2004. One way or another, I have been active with NBCA ever since, doing what I can so more people can survive blood clots and continue to enjoy the people, places and things they love.
Now I am asking you to help NBCA by making a donation during the CrowdRise Challenge, which starts November 26, and runs through January 2. Your contribution now can help NBCA compete for up to $300,000 in prize money during the Challenge.
Thanks to the support of friends and family like you, NBCA works tirelessly to prevent blood clots and save lives through programs focused on awareness, patient support, education, and research.
While we are proud of all we’ve accomplished together, the need for your support has never been greater.
Someone dies every six minutes from a blood clot – and survivors are at higher risk of another clotting event, so the pool of at-risk Americans grows every year. The need for a powerful response to this public health crisis has never been greater.
Your donation allows NBCA expand its programs to help people just like you and me. Please join me this holiday season and give generously to Stop the Clot®. My family and I wish you a wonderful holiday season and thank you for your help.
