Jimmy Sperguiro was a 40 year-old lifelong resident of Marshfield Massachusetts.
On July 3, 2014 Jimmy was taken from this world by one of the most silent and dangerous killers – a blood clot. A pulmonary embolism stole him from his family, friends, and loved ones decades before his time. He was a Dad, Son, Brother, Uncle, Companion, Friend and so much more to so many.
Jimmy was by far one of the kindest, warmest and most selfless people the world have ever had the honor of knowing. Jimmy was a simple and ordinary man. This is what made Jimmy extraordinary. If you needed your car fixed at midnight, Jimmy was there by 12:01 with a smile on his face and a toolbox by his side. If you needed your fence painted at 2am, Jimmy was there at your door with warmth in his eyes and a paintbrush in his hand. If you needed a 4am Wal-Mart run because you couldn’t sleep either, Jimmy wished you a “Good morning” and had a hot coffee ready for you. Jimmy fixed it, moved it, painted it, drove it, built it, comforted, or simply listened for a countless number of people whose lives were touched so deeply by these acts of kindness and the love in his heart.
Every day of Jimmy’s life was a challenge that he embraced. All Jimmy ever really wanted at the end of each day was to make the people he loved happy and proud. Jimmy was a good man with a heart so big that it filled whatever room he was in. Jimmy was a simple and ordinary man. And this IS what made Jimmy extraordinary.
Every day, 274 people die of blood clots. That’s 274 deaths daily that can be prevented. The National Blood Clot Alliance and The Friends of Jimmy have teamed up to raise awareness and funds for one of the most underdiagnosed killers in society today – blood clots.
Join us in the fight against blood clots.
More people die each year due to blood clots than due to AIDS, breast cancer and car accidents COMBINED. Yet blood clots are often preventable and treatable if you know the signs.
Too many lives are lost simply because public awareness is so low. Fewer than 1 in 4 people know how to identify the signs of a blood clots. Increased awareness will save lives. But we need your help.
This holiday season, we are raising funds for NBCA, the leading nonprofit organization in the U.S. focused singularly on building awareness and community among people who are affected by blood clots. Thanks to the support of friends and family like you, NBCA works tirelessly to prevent blood clots and save lives through programs focused on awareness, patient support, education, and research.
And while we are proud of all we’ve accomplished together, the need for your support has never been greater.
Someone dies every six minutes from a blood clot – and survivors are at higher risk of another clotting event, so the pool of at-risk Americans grows every year. We must act now to combat this medical crisis.
