In celebration of their marriage, Yuri and Andrew kindly ask their family and friends to make donations to their favorite NYC-based, community-serving non-profits:
Over 60 percent of people in jail in the United States are being detained while they await trial. They’re not serving time as a punishment. They’ve been found guilty of no crime. Instead, in the majority of cases, money is the barrier to freedom.
As a New York State-chartered charitable bail fund since 2015, the Brooklyn Community Bail Fund has paid bail for more than 4,000 presumptively innocent New Yorkers, effectively securing over 620 years of freedom for clients who would otherwise have been sent to Rikers while awaiting trial because they could not afford even small amounts of bail.
