The National Association of Park Foundations (www.the-napf.org) is the trusted and leading organization designed exclusively to assist citizens, volunteers, and park professionals start and or strengthen their local park foundation. Individual donor contributions and other forms of financial philanthropy are providing much needed support to enhance the park experience at the local level - especially in communities where limited tax dollars are just not supporting parks and recreation programs, buildings, and recreational facilities.
National Association of Park Foundations (NAPF) In today’s economical environment, parks and recreation departments (especially at the local level) are more reliant on private philanthropy and individual citizen donor dollars than ever before. Simply put, tax dollars are just not enough to maintain our local green spaces, play grounds, park buildings, ponds, walk trails, and programs. Donate to the NAPF this holiday season! Your individual gift of any amount helps support the advancement and operations of citizen and volunteer led local park foundations. Your gift is 100% tax deductible. The National Association of Park Foundations (www.the-napf.org) is part of the solution and with your financial support this Holiday Season and throughout the year the NAPF can continue to provide much needed assistance to the thousands of local park foundations and friends groups across our great nation.
"Local park foundations and "friends groups" are where public park and recreation administration and the nonprofit world of philanthropy, fund-raising, volunteer management, and program evaluation collide!" (Dr. Nathan Schaumleffel)
Founded in 2014, the NAPF began helping local park foundations get started or get stronger through strategies. The NAPF is positively making a difference in the lives of the communities we serve through the member local park foundations and organizations across the country. The belief that a quality local park environment positively contributes to stronger, healthier, and more vibrant economic conditions throughout the communities we serve is a motivation that keeps the NAPF focused on our mission. NAPF and ultimately the NAPF park foundation members across the country need your financial support to help enhance the local park experience in their community.
NAPF helps strengthen citizen and volunteer board members with strategies that create effective organizational governance, fund development strategies, diverse public relations and marketing, accounting and legal, budgeting and short and long range goals.
From the humble surroundings of a "closet office" in the basement of a residential home in suburban Chicago, and through the support and vision of a dedicated board of directors and advisors, the NAPF has emerged today as the trusted national leader in providing knowledge, skills and capacity to local park foundations, volunteers and other citizens who work to enhance and strengthen park systems in their communities.
“Park foundations can be a key factor in the operation of a successful park and recreation agency. The National Association of Park Foundations is equipped to help your agency start a foundation or jump start a current foundation into becoming a high performer”. (Peter M. Murphy, J.D., CAE, President and CEO, Illinois Association of Park Districts)
Your financial support this Holiday season will allow the NAPF to continue to offer much needed educational resources and "board member retreats" across the country aimed at strengthening our local park foundation capabilities throughout the country.
“The Hoffman Estates Park District Foundation joining NAPF has within a relatively short period of time already provided our board and community with a solid return on our investment. A recent board retreat facilitated by NAPF’s Executive Director, Don Ortale has enabled our foundation board to refocus our mission and vision as well as redefine our strategic thinking moving forward. I believe that NAPF has helped to empower our foundation board to develop meaningful strategies that we fully anticipate will dramatically raise the charitable giving bar for our foundation moving forward.” (Dean Bostrom, Founding board member and Secretary of Hoffman Estates Park District Foundation Executive Director, Hoffman Estates Park District)
"The Shawnee County Parks and Recreation Foundation became a member of the National Association of Park Foundations two years ago and we have had nothing but positive support from the NAPF Executive Director and the board members of the NAPF since becoming members. Our board retreat helped strengthen our fund raising, governance, and PR strategies. Thank you, NAPF" (Rachel Meyer, Shawnee County Parks and Recreation)
Your generous donation this Holiday Season will allow the representatives of the National Association of Park Foundation continue to make an even deeper educational difference throughout the United States by supporting the all important educational sessions at State Park and Rec Conferences throughout the country during the year.
"The Wisconsin Park & Recreation Association and its membership agencies have truly benefited from all of the statewide presentations that the National Association of Park Foundations has provided to date. It is critical for our membership agencies to have community support if their park and recreation services and operations are to continue and to be enhanced in the future. NAPF has shown how important it is for Foundations to be created to assist in generating needed support funding, as well as to strengthen those that have Foundations, but have been struggling with their purpose and funding contacts. NAPF is the answer!" (Steven J. Thompson, CPRP, CEO (Recently Retired) Wisconsin Park & Recreation Association)
Your generous donation this Holiday Season will help the National Association of Park Foundation reach even greater numbers of park foundation members and help the NAPF continue to make an even greater impact throughout the United States. Your donation will continue to help the NAPF make a difference and allow the NAPF to hundreds more local park foundation to get started.
"I would like to take a moment to provide my support for the National Association of Park Foundations (NAPF). The City of Bothell has undergone a process to establish a parks and recreation foundation and today we received our notification from the IRS that we have received the 501 (c)(3) designation. I don't think we could have arrived to this point with out the assistance of the NAPF. We received expert advice along the way and in a couple of instances we actually were saved (from making expensive mistakes). It was a wise decision to (become members) of the NAPF and I recommend their services without any reservations." (John Keates, Director, City of Bothell, WA Parks and Recreation Department)
