Hi, I’m Kelly! Thanks for visiting my fundraising page!
I want to share my mental health story with you:
I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder when I was 13 years old.
I had been displaying signs of serious mental illness since I was in kindergarten and by 7th grade we finally had an explanation for my symptoms. My diagnosis changed my life and started me on a 15-year journey to where I am today: happy, healthy, and eager to give back.
I first started hearing about the National Alliance on Mental Illness around the time of my diagnosis and over the past 15 years I’ve used NAMI to learn about my illness and find a community of people experiencing the same struggles I have.
Growing up with bipolar disorder was immensely difficult and included hospitalizations, dropping out of school and an enormous amount of strain on my family, but with the support of my doctors, family, and NAMI, we made it through the worst of my illness.
Running is an extremely important part of my mental healthcare, so I can’t think of a better organization to support with my run.
Please consider supporting NAMI! Your donation will have a positive impact on the lives of people living with mental illness.
Thank you for your support. See you at the finish line!
