The Southern Maine Workers' Center (SMWC) is the most active space I have been organizing in the past two years, and is always fighting hard to build a powerful working class movement.
SMWC is part of a broader family of organizations across the world pushing for universal healthcare and power for poor people, we are also part of a coalition of local groups that toil together in solidarity as a part of a working class movement.
In particular, I have been focused on building and helping run the Worker Support Hotline and Free Legal Clinic for employees at SMWC. This is quickly becoming a crucial resource for working people across southern Maine to find relief when they or their coworkers are abused, harassed, or otherwise mistreated by their employers. I have personally fielded dozens of phone calls, and met with as many people in person, the past ten months to know that Maine is hardly an exception when it comes to horrible mistreatment of working people.
It is crucial resources like these that we are working on every day and are seeking your support to help SMWC grow!
