The Dixie Wing has recently acquired a N2S-2 Kaydet (PT-17 Stearman) restoration project. The airplane is currently disassembled and its parts are located in two different locations. The Dixie Wing intends to develop a restoration program led by the several female members of the unit. The objective is to honor the cultural icon "Rosie the Riveter," who represented women who worked in factories and shipyards during World War II.
This winter the unit is hoping to raise $30,000. These funds will be utilized for centralizing the project to one location, upgrading the fuselage, as well as restoration of the motor mounts and landing gears.
