My name is Lisa, and I am running a 6-hour "fixed time" virtual race benefiting the World Central Kitchen on 6/27/20 in my hometown of San Diego, CA. My goal is to run as many loops of a 0.8 mile fixed-course as possible in a 6 hour timeframe, while raising money to feed hungry families and essential workers during the COVID-19 crisis. I hope to run at least 30 miles (an ultramarathon) in this effort during the "Summertime Binge" virtual race hosted by Aravaipa running!
Why is this cause important to me? My dad worked in the hospitality industry in NYC for many years. When the 9/11 terrorist attacks happened and he was out of work for a while, we benefited from food bank donations during a time when our family needed it most. It's time for me to give back.
Celebrity Chef Jose Andres and his staff have served 10 million meals across America and Spain during the COVID-19 response. With 40MM Americans out of work, the need is great. They want to serve 300,000 meals per day and help 1,600 restaurants keep their doors open! Join me in supporting this effort!
