EVENT DATE: April 29th, 2018 THE STORY: Our Fourth MVRP Performance Fundraiser At a new wonderful space. Goddard Riverside’s Bernie Wohl Center, NYC 1:30 – 4:00
In memory of Michael Vincent Rosen-Pipitone, our MVRP Foundation was created to raise funds to support young adult artists and support mental health programs. At this benefit we will have a variety of talented musical and comedic performers. The event promises to be meaningful, emotional, beautiful and funny. Join us during our reception after the show for some light refreshments. We will also serve beer and wine. The reception will give us an opportunity to visit, and for you to ask members of the MVRP foundation questions, meet and greet the artists, young and ageless alike, and eat. We hope you will stay and join us after the show for this reception.
Come celebrate his life and help us continue to raise funds to meet our goals. Links to our event for more information and tickets are: http://mvrp.brownpapertickets.com mobile: mvrp.bpt.me
Please join us. There are different ways you can offer your support. One is to donate here to help us in our mission. Another is to purchase a ticket for our Fourth MVRP Performance Benefit. A third way is to help sponsor our event with funds or items for our silent auction. Additionally, we invite you to help us fundraise by joining our team to tell others. It’s free on crowdrise for you and helps us have greater exposure and impact. This increases the people we can help and the programs we can support.
Michael's passion was art and people. As a talented actor, writer, artist and comedian, Mike's desire was to share his art and his creative spark and help to make the world a funnier, kinder and more thoughtful place. And so, we come together in celebration and in memory of Michael's short life, which tragically ended on May 25, 2013, at the age of 21. He died from a treatable side effect from a medication he was taking, while he was in the hospital.
This year, our annual goal is to raise $50,000. We want to give $25,000 to BMCC which will fund a particular scholarship, program, or can yield enough income each year to support one or more student scholarships, in perpetuity. Current and ongoing, MVRP gives scholarships and helps fund mentor programs in organizations that Michael was associated with. Our initiatives include supporting students and programs at the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) to help fund their film and theater department and Clubs, providing student scholarships to the People’s Improvisation Theater (The PIT) called the MVRP PIT Scholars, donating to Jazz Power Initiative, and we provide financial donations to NAMI NYC Metro (National Alliance on Mental Illness) whose organization provides mental health resources and programs for the community. Many young adults face challenges with mental health issues. We work to raise awareness and to help end the stigma surrounding mental illness. With our scholarships and donations to the Arts, we provide artists with the opportunity to create and grow. Art and the creative process can help in a powerful way by providing an alternative way of thinking about problems, by promoting a deeper understanding of yourself and the world around you, through the sharing of ideas and feelings, which allows for the creation of meaningful connections with others.
Keep Michael’s light bright and his love for life alive. His goal was to communicate joy and love and humor, through the arts. This is the life experience that our Foundation strives to foster; this is the gift we want our Foundation to be able to give. Your caring donation, big or small, can help us accomplish this. Donate to promote kindness and empathy, the way Michael Vincent Rosen-Pipitone lived....helping to make the world a better place, a more thoughtful place, a kinder place, with laughter and love. We look forward to seeing you there! If you cannot attend, please make a donation. Every dollar you donate will help. Thank you for your support.
