Dog lovers across southern California, lace up your shoes and get ready to walk, run, or roll for a great cause!
The Howl-O-Ween 5K Mutt Run/Walk is held each year in support of California Labradors, Retrievers & More Rescue. In the 7 years since our founding, Labs and More has rescued more than 8,300 dogs and puppies! These rescued dogs were often on their last day of life in a shelter, on the streets, or abandoned by their owners. Getting them the medical attention that they need, learning more about each dog, and helping them find their forever families is at the core of the work we do.
We have had the good fortune of meeting amazing people and wonderful volunteers who have helped us build a network of compassionate and generous dog-loving people that support the work we do. Because of these efforts, we have endeavored to never have to say “no” to dogs needing extensive medical care, pregnant moms and moms with pups, senior dogs in need of medical assistance, and mixed breed adults who otherwise usually have no chance at life.
Did you know that the adoption donation each family pays to adopt a dog from us only covers about 3/4 of our cost in rescuing, vetting, microchipping, spaying/neutering, feeding, and housing each dog we rescue? And that doesn't include medical or other special needs that a dog may have. When you multiply that by the over 1,600+ dogs we rescue each year, it adds up to a lot! In order to continue to give more dogs a chance at life, we are tasked with working to fundraise the difference. That's where you come in!
