A Note from Liesl Bellack:
I want to start with thank you. Thank you for supporting yet another one of my crazy endeavors and showing that support in such a material way.
When I saw that MDA was a foundation I could raise money for while also running my first marathon, it was a no brainer. For those who don’t know my story, I’ll say that the opportunity hits close to home. My family has been personally impacted by SMA, which falls under the umbrella of the MDA organization and is included their endeavors to support those impacted and find a cure.
To channel my physical determination into a goal and running on behalf of those who can’t brings more fulfillment than can be accurately articulated. With this in mind, I’ll finish with thank you, from the bottom of my heart
The MDA Story
MDA is leading the fight to free individuals — and the families who love them — from the harm of muscular dystrophy, ALS and related muscle-debilitating diseases that take away physical strength, independence and life. We use our collective strength to help kids and adults live longer and grow stronger by finding research breakthroughs across diseases; caring for individuals from day one; and empowering families with services and support. Locally, our MDA Care Centers at OHSU ALS and Neuromuscular Disease Center and Shriners Hospital for Children; and affiliate clinics in Springfield and Medford support local families through their multidisciplinary team of health care providers. Each July, our Summer Camp program, “the best week of the year” for many of our kids and families transpires in Salem. And, events such as Mike Bellotti’s Toast to Strength Golf and Gala, held right here in Eugene on May 9th & 10th, raise critical funds to make Living Unlimited a reality! Together, our collective work is paving a new path forward in terms of understanding neuromuscular disease and enabling life-changing innovations in research, treatment and care.
