COVID-19 has triggered a worldwide education crisis (see above photo of media clippings). Students around the world are isolated from one another and are desperately searching for meaningful engagement and peer-to-peer interaction. MUN Impact has created an engaging community for youth to connect with students around the world and share their aspirations and ideas for a shared, better world.
This global youth network is a veritable "Model United Nations" (MUN). Kids come together to explore solutions and where possible, apply these solutions in their communities to make a positive local impact. Thus the name MUN Impact!
How it works
Students from around the world come together online (in a safe and secure Zoom network) to discuss global and local issues in the format of a traditional Model United Nations simulation. The discussion is framed around the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that focus on ending hunger, good health, gender equality, climate and environmental issues, and many more.
As a precursor to debate, we organize unique "briefings" where students in developing countries share with other students their local issues and interests and then open up for Q&A and discussion. This cross cultural and cross border exchange between kids is completely new and where the magic happens. Our first Zoom briefing with students and teachers in Nigeria had over 80 participants from 24 countries and ran one hour over as students stayed online to chat with one another.
Interest in our online programs have exploded and we are struggling to meet the demand from middle and high school students on every continent. We need your help to make this uplifting form of global online engagement available to the growing number of youth who want to come together and talk about world issues and work together to develop positive solutions. With your support we can bring this program to an even greater number of youth.
Having served thousands of students we have connected kids around this popular extra-curricular activity. We have given them the tools necessary to build this organic network and advanced deeper learning on pressing global issues and provided them real leadership opportunities on a global scale.
We kindly ask that you join us in supporting our efforts. Your gift will help provide immediate financial support so we can expand this operation to better reach and serve kids around the world, and in the process create a space where they can learn to become better global citizens. Help keep kids engaged in positive online activity and offer them the opportunity to share their aspirations with other kids around the world during this time of isolation.
