We're Kate Ostrander, Dan Gerges, Heidi Walls, Nate Johnson, and Alex Graham! We all went to Tufts Medical School together and then most of us came here to Vermont for residency. We range in practice from family docs and pediatricians to urologists and head and neck surgeons.
We're running the 2019 VT City marathon together to raise money to support the Never Give Up Ever Fund, which provides vital resources for the parents and families of children who are admitted to UVM's Children's Hospital, which serves children and families from all over Vermont and northern New York, sometimes as far as 6 hours away. It's hard enough to have a child that is ill and needs to be hospitalized (sometimes for long durations) without having to think about work, paying bills, transportation, and other real-life things. Significant medical care can put huge financial and logistical burdens on families. This as an important fund that we as resident physicians tap into to often to support the families of our pediatric patients here at UVM, to try to make things a little bit easier on families going through some unthinkably challenging times.
