"You must change yourselves and your communities. You must actualize the concept of self-determination." - Dr. Maxie T. Collier
Contributions support expenses that awarded funding usually excludes but are critical in supporting organizational operations, sustaining initiatives, and distributing critical resource information.
BMHA Real Talk Podcast
Contributions support expenses for the podcast which are not covered by awarded funding. Your donation covers costs such as the virtual platform monthly fee, marketing, and production crew fees, taping, and editing.
The National Institute For Maximal Human Development
Unlike awarded funding, donations that come directly into BMHA are unrestricted and can cover the cost of honoraria for trainers and facilitators that are not retained by mainstream advocacy organizations. Your donation goes to people who look like you and are shifting the paradigm in equity in the mental health field for Black people.
The Healing While Black Tour
Awarded funding does not cover events and conferences. Yet, direct contributions to BMHA will allow us to create a Black mental health conference that does a virtual tour in major cities throughout the country. In each city, BMHA will convene local leaders to speak to local mental health needs in the Black communities that they serve, and offer best practices as well as discuss the challenges they face. Direct contributions will cover the cost of having a robust hosting platform, retaining speakers and entertainers, and paying facilitators to lead online workshops.
