Get Movin' for Education in Liberia

Join us virtually any day throughout the month of October to support Gbarnga Mission as we expand our school in Liberia. Pedal, paddle, walk, or run – help us get our classrooms done!

Take a walk or hike, a bike ride or kayak paddle, or whatever way you like as we move together -- and apart. Get sponsors to support your activity and Get Movin' to support building more classrooms at our school in Liberia.

Step 1: Register and get your T-shirt.

Please register that you'll be participating by clicking the “Register” button. All participants must make an initial contribution of $30 to register and receive your event T-shirt. Don’t forget to select your shirt size!

Step 2: Fundraise as an individual or create a team.

Get movin’ by yourself or gather some friends and family together to create a team! Either way, set a fundraising goal. Education challenges our students to learn, achieve, and stretch their capabilities. We encourage you to pick a challenging, but achievable, goal for both fundraising and distance – will you walk or run 5 miles, paddle 10 miles, or pedal 20 miles? Will you strive to raise $250 or $1,000?

Step 3: Get the word out!

Every participant is encouraged to raise at least $250 for building our classrooms (but feel free to raise more if you want!). Reach out to the people you know to support you. You can get 10 people to give $10, 4 people to give $25, 2 to for $50, or any combination in between. Share on Facebook. Twitter, and all your social media.

Step 4: Get Movin’

Get out there in October and hit your goals (while physical distancing, of course)! Post photos on Instagram @gbarngamission of you, your story, and why you chose to join us as we’re movin’ for education in Liberia. We can't wait to see how you got movin' – and thank you!

Pedal, paddle, walk, or run – help us get our classrooms done! Support Gbarnga Mission as we expand our school in Liberia.

Did you know that about 2/3 of Liberian children don’t attend school? Children make up half the population of Liberia but only one-third are enrolled in school. The country is still recovering from 14-years of civil war that destroyed many schools and killed hundreds of thousands of people. In the 5th poorest country in the world, many families in Liberia can’t afford to pay for tuition or school supplies.

How does movin’ help education in Liberia? Gbarnga Mission’s Christian school in Liberia is on the move with a growing enrollment and we need more room to teach even more students. We’re constructing classrooms and a cafeteria to expand our capacity through 8th grade. When you get movin’ with us, we’ll reach our goal together! Find out more at our website
