The message of the mustache is simple - FUCK CANCER.
This December will mark 5 years since my Dad passed away after his battle with brain cancer. My Mom continues to champion her own battle with cancer and is currently living cancer free, but the concern always lurks after its struck the first time. Outside of my own family, there are several people I love who endure the hardships of cancer in their own way and while there are amazing stories of hope and perseverence the reality of the situation sucks.
Cancer shows up out of nowhere and creates so many unexpected challenges for the people that have to deal with it. Some share stories of optimism and overcoming one of life's greatest challenges, while others share stories of pain and tragic endings.
"The American Cancer Society is a nationwide voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer." Their missions is, "To save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer." Whether you, your familiy or your friends have been affected by cancer or not, this is an easy mission to get behind and growing a mustache this month is a small way to make a difference for a huge problem.
Last year I set out to raise $1,000 to support the American Cancer Society and was blown away to get over $2,000 in support. This year I set a fundraising goal of $2,000 and will be greatful for any ammount of money you choose to donate whether it's $5 or more. Together, with your help, we can make progress in the world of cancer research and mitigate the problem for generations to come.
Thanks in advance for any support you are willing to provide.
Much love, and FUCK CANCER.
