Mount Sinai Heart wants to give back this holiday season! Our goal is raise enough money to purchase 300 turkeys ($15 each) for The Campaign Against Hunger's (TCAHNYC) Food Pantry in Brooklyn. Please read more about this incredible organization below and help us reach our goal. Happy Thanksgiving!
TCAH Story: The Campaign Against Hunger (TCAH) began in 1998 as a small, traditional food pantry operating out of a church basement in historic Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Our mission is to empower our neighbors to lead healthier, more productive and self-sufficient lives, by increasing their access to safe and nutritious food and related resources. Over 20 years later, our organization and services have grown exponentially to include nutrition education courses, sustainable urban farming, and other social services, all meant to empower our neighbors and disrupt inter-generational cycles if poverty and disease.
SuperPantry:TCAH operates one of New York City’s largest emergency food pantries. Open five days/week, our SuperPantry provides the community with access to fresh produce, whole grains, lean proteins, and new clothes, all at no cost to our clients. Based on the USDA My Plate Campaign, our pantry is organized according to food group, with the goal of providing our clients with all the essential elements to a complete and nutritious diet. In 2018 alone, we provided over 1.73 million meals through our SuperPantry services.
