Mother's Day Meso Run is proud to support the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation for our 2nd Annual Mother's Day Weekend Meso Run on Saturday, May 11, 2019. The Meso Foundation funds research on new treatments and provides invaluable support to mesothelioma patients and their families.
Mother's Day Meso Run began in 2018 as a way to raise awareness about mesothelioma and support research to help find a cure for this deadly cancer. Our founder, Julia, lost her mom Patty to peritoneal mesothelioma in May 2017, just a week before Mother's Day. Before her diagnosis, neither Patty nor her family knew much of anything about the disease. Thanks to the Meso Foundation, that changed quickly. This story is common within the meso community. Mesothelioma is a rare type of cancer and therefore under researched, poorly understood, and relatively unknown. To increase critical funding for research on this disease, there needs to be more awareness about this cancer and its insidious causes. That's where we think we can help.
The Mother's Day Weekend Meso Run 2019 is our annual 5K run/walk in Los Angeles' Griffith Park. It's on the Saturday of Mother's Day weekend to honor Patty and others who have lost their lives to mesothelioma. We hope you'll join us in person or in spirit. We invite you to make a donation to our 2019 race beneficiary: the Meso Foundation. We are confident that every dollar raised will be used effectively to move us closer to a cure.
