We are Caleb & Tori McKim who have fallen in love with our Caldwell community as we’ve owned Flying M Coffeeshop in Downtown Caldwell since 2018. Our kids are excited to be enrolled in the first year of Mosaics Public School, opening in Caldwell this fall. Mosaics is a STEAM focused (science, technology, engeneering, art & math) school, which is right up their alley as they are already aspiring to be an engineer, an artist and a doctor.
It occurred to us to inquire about the accessibility of the new playground as our youngest daughter Jane has spina bifida, wears braces on her legs and has difficulty walking on uneven surfaces. The school has chosen some amazing playground equipment with accessible features for kids with disabilities, but it is also planned to be surrounded with bark. As we’ve navigated different playgrounds, we’ve found out that kids like Jane need help when play areas are surrounded with bark or gravel, but playgrounds with rubberized, flat surfaces are a dream because they can get to the play structures independently.
When we asked what it would take to upgrade to a rubberized playtop, we learned that it is $50,000 over the school’s budget, but we also know that together we can do great things. We’ve initiated Mosaics Playground Project and have already raised $20,500 from school families, friends and neighbors, and we need your help to help us raise the remaining $29,500 needed to complete this project for Mosaics school.
Playground construction will start in August, so we are hoping to have the bulk of the funds raised by the second week of July.
You can make a donation in the following ways:
1. Mailing a check directly to the Mosaics Public School address: 3121 Lincoln Road, Caldwell, Idaho 83605
2. Directly to the school online at https://www.mosaicsps.org/donate/
3. If you are a Micron employee, through "Micron Gives" for a 2:1 match from Micron
3. Right here through Go Fund Me Charity
If you or you know someone who owns a business and would like to donate or if you'd like to make a large gift, we are offering some advertisting and gifts for donations over $1000 and would love to talk/meet with you individually. Please contact Tori at the phone number or email address below.
Not only will this be a great blessing to Jane, but this will be a safe and accessible play top for all of the kids who will attend Mosaics. We are looking forward to our future leaders in science, technology, and the arts that will emerge from this school and our community. Feel free to email or call us with any questions. Thank you so much for your generosity and consideration in donating to this project!
