Montclair Film, home of the Montclair Film Festival, is preparing to celebrate our 7th annual spring festival April 26th through May 6, 2018! To better reflect the year-round nature of our organization, the Montclair Film Festival rebranded as Montclair Film in spring 2017. We launched our new name and logo to better express our year-round commitment to a wide range of film and education programming. While we now operate under this new identity, the Montclair Film Festival is still our signature spring festival.
With a mission to engage, educate, and entertain through the power of film and visual storytelling, Montclair Film connects filmmakers from around the region and world with audiences by presenting films and year-round programs that celebrate the transformative power of film and provide a showcase for emerging and established artists to share their work, interact with audiences, and network with each other. Our programs promote a greater understanding, awareness, and appreciation of the art of filmmaking and the role that media arts and storytelling play in our community. We present and promote film and media arts in entertaining ways that inspire and educate intergenerational cultural arts audiences, build community spirit, and foster economic development.
In April 2017 we opened our new year-round headquarters in the heart of downtown Montclair! The Investors Bank Film & Media Center features a 65-seat micro-cinema for weekly screenings that converts into a flexible public program and event space; Education Center used for education classes and workshops and a Storytelling Studio for podcasts; and Administrative Offices for our growing year-round staff. This LEED certified building is fully ADA accessible, including an elevator to all floors. We are committed to presenting engaging programs that serve a diverse and creative audience of all ages, including programs for special need audiences like Sensory Friendly Screenings and 505 Film + Friends an inclusive club where teens and young adults with and without disabilities gather to watch films and hang out to inspire creativity, build confidence, connections, and community awareness while empowering members with social skills to navigate school, career, and life.
Since the Capital Campaign to Build A New Home kicked off in January 2016, we have raised gifts and pledges of more than $2.3 million. We have just 10% ($300K) left to complete the campaign and pay for the elevator for universal accessibilty and ask you to DONATE TODAY! While we are up-and-running in the new space, we are spending the rest of this year fundraising to complete the campaign and raise additional dollars to sustain our growing educational initiatives.
Gifts both large and small will help us meet our goal to raise a If we meet this goal, we qualify to compete for grants of $10K to $100K from the Gannett Foundation to help support our programs and elevator to make Montlcair Film accessible to everyone!
Thank you for donating now--and for sharing this campaign on Social Media :)
The new Montclair Film is proud to BRING TOGETHER audiences, artists, industry professionals, and actors to SHARE STORIES and IDEAS. Our programs CREATE CONVERSATIONS between filmmakers + film lovers, and our attendees tell us that our post-screening Q+As help to inform, entertain, and change perspectives. We SHOW YOU FILMS FIRST and EDUCATE a new generation of filmmakers at our new home in Montclair where EVERYONE IS WELCOME, and we are doing it ALL YEAR LONG!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
