Caregivers are unsung heroes. They spend their days tirelessly caring for another with a medical condition whether a father, a sister, an aunt or a friend. They give up much of their life helping another. The selflessness involved and the stress that comes with this great responsibility is hard to even comprehend.
Molly's House currently offers a Caregiver Respite Program to give these unsung heroes a much needed and deserved break from their daily and strenuous routines. We hire a professional caregiver to take care of the loved one needing assistance and medical attention and bring the caregiver to Molly's House for a quiet, relaxing stay for up to 4 days and 3 nights. We also put together experiences for the caregiver during their stay to include spa days, mani/pedis, trips to museums, and local dining all free to the caregiver thanks to the generosity of local businesses.
Our hope is to expand our Caregiver Retreat Program to serve families taking care of a child or dependent with a medical condition requiring constant in-home care by a family member. We hope to add the services of a professional counselor to teach caregivers ways to better cope with the constant demands of their role. In addition, we are looking to expand our referral network to help us find families who need our services.
Our community, like so many others, needs more of these respite services. We have recognized the need and are ready to stand up and take action. We can't do this alone. We need your support. We have applied for an ACT Grant from Garnett to expand our Caregiver Respite Program. This grant requires us to raise $3000 to qualify for the next round. We are looking to the generosity of our community to make this happen. We hope you will consider making a donation today and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support.
