The Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) is a national cultural institution that tells the untold stories in the making of America through the lens of the Chinese immigrant experience. (A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.) It is our way of honoring the pioneering spirit of not only Chinese immigrants but all immigrants who took the first steps that blazed a path for future generations in America.
In 2019, MOCA celebrates the 150th anniversary of the historic moment when a golden spike was driven into the ground at Promontory Summit in Utah to mark the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad. To commemorate this milestone, MOCA has launched the MOCA Spike 150 initiative and will dedicate the next 9 months to tell 150 untold stories about Chinese Americans who made the history.
As a Chinese America, I’m very proud of these pioneers and often inspired by their bravery, ingenuity, and resilience. To help MOCA raise the much needed fund to expand the museum and better preserve and exhibit our history , I will be participating MOCA Spike 150 Initiative by doing an Ironman triathlon in November 2019. In this race I will swim 2.4 miles, bike ride 112 miles, and then run a full marathon. I hope you will support us and make a donation to MOCA. Every dollar counts, let’s do our part in making MOCA one of the most unique museums in the US.
