Monday Night Hospitality is a weekly lifeline for hundreds of New Yorkers in need.
Unlike a traditional "soup kitchen," MNH serves guests a restaurant-style meal with dishes, flatware, tablecloths, flowers, and music. Guests also have access to social services that help them avoid evictions, reconnect with their families, secure public benefits, and undergo mental health counseling. Our goal is to create an atmosphere of dignity and respect such that our guests can leave us feeling that they are indeed loved and comforted and a part of our community.
Today MNH is at a crossroads: as hunger in New York City is on the rise, we are now feeding more than 400 people each Monday night. But our kitchen was never designed to feed so many. This year, we are looking to renovate our kitchen to add much needed fridge and freezer space. This will allow us to accept larger food donations and even start a food pantry to give groceries to our guests.
To keep this vital service running, we are raising $150,000.
Despite growing demand for services, we never turn anyone away. This is all due to support like yours! Our average cost per meal is about $4, so anything you can spare will go a long way towards providing a New Yorker with more food security, love and support. Thank you for your support!
