My best friend's sister was diagnosed with Leukemia at the age of 3. I was 7 years old at that time and never heard of the word cancer. But soon after I started researching and I understood what it was: a deadly disease that takes millions of lives each year. We would hope that she would get better, and she did eventually. But the entire process kept me curious and I soon dug deeper and found out how much treatment costs. What I found was astonishing. It costs hundreds of thousands of dollars! It turns out that many parents are refusing the full treatment because of the price. That day I realized that cancer does not look at the victim's background, or if they can pay for the treatments. Cancer just strikes. So many children have to put up with it. The financial aspect of cancer is not talked about as loudly as it should. Even if the parent does pay for those treatments, those treatments take a toll on other aspects of their life such as housing, food, etc. In the end, there are so many innocent children who need the money to live, who are refusing because of the cost. Cancer has put up its share of the fight, and it is time we did too. You may not be an oncologist or researcher, but you too can have an impact. By donating to Mission: Beat Out Leukemia we are going to help so many children and their families. All the cancer patients need to worry about is them getting better, and not worry about the fees.To help these patients and families, I would like to raise some money to ease this stress on the financial side of cancer and donate to cancer research. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or LLS (the beneficiary where the money is going to be donated to), is an advocate for coverage of the treatments and they are working to pass a bill that allows full coverage of the treatments. They are also working on cancer research. By donating you are going to help so many victims in so many ways. Any amount big or small will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, and hope you too join Mission: Beat Out Leukemia.
