Miracle League of Arizona provides a safe and fun baseball experience for individuals with special needs. With the recent Covid-19 pandemic, we've had to cancel our spring games where 300 of our players would have been connecting on a weekly basis and playing ball with their friends.
Two of our annual fundraisers also had to be cancelled, which were significant sources of revenue for our operating expenses.
We've pivoted to offering time consuming, individual video calls and lawn visits to create virtual games between our mascot, Homer, and our athletes while everyone's stuck at home.
With Homer being the face of our organization now during this quarantine, being able to purchase a second one would allow us to access more families remotely. Post-COVID-19 recovery we would still bring the smiles to the community, with the second mascot costume available for hospital visits & other community outreach efforts.
Additional funds right now would also allow us to provide individualized equipment, both baseball related and for PPE, to our families staying "safe at home".
