The first question I usually get is, “what is a ministry”. Simply put a ministry home allows people to get off the streets, learn about God and gives them skills to be a part of working society. We provide housing, food and job skills free of charge to them. My husband started his home, Lost and Found by Jesus, 15 years ago. The intention was to move people along after they got their footing back. He had a man who said he just felt safe and didn’t want to leave. He has no family. That happened 14 years ago and this man is still a part of the home. Many people have come simply passing through for a few months. Currently we have a core group of 9 men who feel their lives are best lived in the home as a family.
We have no government funding. The men bring in all the funds through volunteer work, this disqualifies them for unemployment. The work they do is working concessions stands at different sports venues. Can you hear the man yelling “hotdogs… popcorn”? Ok. We know it’s not 1950 but it is something like that. Spring Training and baseball season is the event that would normally carry our home through the “dry” months. With this funding source gone, we have 9 men at risk to lose this program. Additionally, we do outreach to the community we serve and this has had to halt. Any funds raised will help current and future men to be served through this program. We appreciate any amount and continue to pray blessing over those who pray or donate.
