Gulf Coast Community Ministries has continued to serve its community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The dedicated staff at GCCM have implemented creative solutions to keep our food pantry open in the midst of the social distancing requirements. This has allowed the ministry to help many who have lost income due to COVID-19 by providing food for over 100 families or about 300 individuals each week.
Additionally, we recently recognized that several homeless support agencies in our area have temporarily closed due to an inability to provide services while maintaining social distancing within their facilities. As a result, showers are no longer available to most local homeless individuals.
To help alleviate this problem, GCCM acquired and set up a disaster relief shower trailer outdoors where plenty of room exists to practice the necessary social distancing protocols while also providing our homeless population access to clean and sanitized shower facilities. This service not only restores quality of life and dignity, but it also helps to reduce the transmission of germs and viruses among our homeless community.
Our new shower ministry is operating entirely through public generosity and our food pantry is funded to provide for pre-COVID-19 community needs. If you would like to co-labor with us in these efforts, please support us in prayer and consider giving a small gift through his campaign that will be reinvested directly into our community. Thank you and God Bless.
