Dear Family and Friends,
What can I say? I miss teenagers! Since my retirement from Harvard-Westlake School in 2017, I’ve been searching for a way to reconnect with teenagers who might really need me. I found MindsMatterLA.
Every Saturday, I mentor bright, energetic, low-income, FirstGen students who dedicate EVERY Saturday for 3 years (from 10th through 12th grades) to MindsMatterLA. We help them reach their potential in the college process by giving them the necessary tools to succeed as well as encouraging them to believe in themselves and their abilities. In addition, these students attend summer college programs during 2 summers to build their confidence, skills and readiness. We provide financial assistance to defray the costs of these experiences as well as the costs of necessary travel, test prep and college application fees.
And do these students have stories to tell? Oh my! Recently, while reviewing their college essays, I was in awe of what they have lived through and how determined they are to make a better life for themselves and their families by attending college. These are inspiring young people indeed.
Your donation (100% tax deductible) will support these students who aspire and work hard every day to achieve their college dreams. Our goal is $100K by the end of the year with the All Ways Foundation generously matching us dollar for dollar. My personal goal in this fundraising effort is $250. Would you be willing to make a contribution to my fundraiser? A gift of any amount would mean a great deal.
