Mile in My Shoes (MiMS) is: Running Together to Change Perceptions and Change Lives. MiMS introduces distance running to residents of Twin Cities homeless and transitional shelters through teams that include both shelter residents and runners from the local community.
As the Co-Team lead at the Higher Ground shelter in St. Paul, I've seen firsthand how our program has transformed the residents throughout the months of dedication, in and outside of our morning hours together running.
This weekend, 12 of us energized volunteers are running a relay race spanning a course connecting Saint Paul up all the way to Duluth! Along the way, we'll be championing the mimspiration we see in our communities each day and raising money to support this great organization. Every bit goes a long way to provide running gear, nutritional support, and race entries for our Resident Members at each of our four teams each season.
