The Millville Soccer Association is a non-profit youth soccer organization. We provide recreation and competitive soccer throughout the year for about 400 boys & girls from Millville and the surrounding communities.
In June, in two weeks’ time, our complex has been hit with a theft and vandalism that will be costly to our organization financially and to our volunteers in sweat equity and time.
First, we had a John Deere Gator stolen from our garage shed that was purchased over 10 years ago for $10,000. It was our workhorse! It was one of the most used pieces of equipment that we have. We use it to pick up trash around our complex, carry materials and equipment, move goals, tow our field lining machines and carry our less abled and handicapped visitors to the fields to watch their family members play soccer, among many other tasks. The theft has been a huge blow to our group.
Just as we are trying to figure out what to do without our Gator, our facility was vandalized the following weekend. Someone in a large vehicle drove through the perimeter fence surrounding the complex and drove onto our fields and tore up the grass on a few of our game fields. These fields are completely maintained by our volunteers. We do all of the maintenance on the fields: soil, seeding, fertilizing, cutting and sprinkler maintenance. Now, we also have to repair tire tracks and doughnut marks on them as well.
We appreciate any amount that you can contribute to our campaign to help offset the costs of replacing and repairing the damages that have occurred over the last few weeks. Thank you!
