For the last year (one year exact on my birthday - August 20th), I have donated monthly to the K.I.N.D. Project (Kids in Need of Desks) via UNICEF.
I first heard of K.I.N.D. on MSNBC during Lawrence O’Donnell last word segment. I was moved to say the least aka I cried my eyes out and had to involve myself somewhere.
Not to get too much into detail, but having two parents not from America and hearing stories of how they and their siblings grew up, with not as many opportunities as I've been blessed with, is one of the reasons I try to stay as grounded as I can. The importance of receiving an education was instilled in me at a very young age. With that, I too want all kids to have the opportunity to learn and develop skills that they can utilize in their future.
I care for people’s wellbeing and if I could I would try to take any struggle away from anyone. I think donating is one of the greatest ways to play apart in contributing to humanity.
For my birthday, instead of everyone giving me physical gifts, I will be asking my friends & family to do a one time donation to the cause. No set amount. Just anything you are willing to give :)
Thank you in advance! & with so much love,
Millie
