On August 5th, 2015, our precious 11-year-old niece Morgan Jones, or "MoJo" for short, was taken from us by a vicious cancerous soft tissue sarcoma (or sheath tumor). Morgan was a strong, fierce competitive cheerleader who could tumble and fly with the best of them before her cancer kept her in pain and off the mat. She was brave and strong, eventually going through several extremely tough surgeries, 28 days of gruesome radiation, and two different clinical trials of chemotherapy -- but she never lost her bright, beautiful smile or positive attitude, which is where our hashtag #positivemojo was born. None of the treatments worked, however, as the tumor was growing far too aggressively to control, and our family was then told that there was nothing more that could be done for her. She was sent home where she was entered into hospice, and was able to spend a summer creating priceless memories with her family and friends before being called home to God and gaining her glittery, golden wings.
In January 2020, I am undertaking the huge physical challenge of running 4 races, in 4 back-to-back mornings, for a grand total of 48.6 miles. I chose to take on such a massive challenge in order to fundraise and support our sweet niece's non-profit, Mojo's Miracle. The goal of Mojo's Miracle is to bring awareness to childhood cancer and sarcoma, aid other families in their battles, and continue the inspiration of our angel through her legacy.
I hope that you'll consider being a hero and supporting me on this mission and through all those miles for our MoJo. Every little bit helps, even if it's just spreading the word! Thank you!! :)
