On March 18th, my brother Buck and I will be hitting the streets of Manhattan and running the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon on behalf of our youngest cousin, Sofia and the Cornelia de Lange Syndrome Foundation. This will be my third time running a half marathon on Team CdLS and Bucks first and it's a privilege to be able to run on behalf of such an extraordinary organization. Cornelia de Lange Syndrome (CdLS) is a genetic disorder present from birth that causes a range of physical, cognitive and medical challenges. The CdLS Foundation is a family support organization which exists to ensure the early and accurate diagnosis of CdLS, promote research into the causes and manifestation of CdLS, and help people with the diagnosis of CdLS to make informed decisions throughout their life. Sofia was diagnosed with CdLS when she was a few months old. Many of you have had the opportunity to spend time with her and have seen her fiery personality and general love of life first hand, she never lets any obstacles stand in her way. She always keeps us laughing and has brought so much joy to our family; she's really an inspiration. Our family has been so blessed to watch her grow and have her in our lives. By running with Team CdLS Wehave the opportunity to give back to an organization that has helped to support Sofia and so many others diagnosed with CdLS. There is no cure, but by donating you are strengthening the CdLS Foundation's ability to continue to provide vital programs, support and services to individuals with CdLS and their families.
