Hi Family and Friends,
On April 7th, I am grateful for the opportunity to run along side my brother in NYC's Run to Breathe race to fight cystic fibrosis. For those who don't know, cystic fibrosis is an incurable genetic disease that attacks the digestive and respiratory systems. The elimination of this disease is an extremely important and personal cause for my family. In July 2018, we found ourselves in our own fight against cystic fibrosis when my beautiful nephew, Niko, was diagnosed with it two weeks after he was born. While this journey our family is on is both heartbreaking and frightening, these last eight months have been sprinkled with insight, education and unwavering faith. The road ahead is uncertain (as it is always is!) however we are keenly aware of and encouraged by the fact that Niko was born at the best time possible to have this diagnosis. Amazing strides have been made in the last ten years, primarily through private fundraising and the steadfast work of volunteers. The research is sooo close to treatment for the underlying causes of the disease and we NEED to get there. We MUST get there. If you are able to donate to our cause, it would mean the world to us.
You know that saying "It takes a village?" ...well, this is one of those moments. We are so thankful for all of the support and encouragement we have received - thank you!! #allforniko
