Please join me in our third annual fundraiser to support the Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide. In 2017 we tragically lost a dear, young friend to suicide. Mary Glenn Oliver (pictured above) was a kind, tender-hearted teenage girl who brought light and joy into our world simply by her presence. She was loved deeply by her family, friends, camp community, my daughters, and everyone who knew her. We cotinue to miss her and want to find ways to help prevent other young people from similar deaths. National studies show teen suicide is the second leading cause of death in students age 10-24. Nearly 18% of high school students admit to thinking about suicide and almost 9% acknowledge actually making an attempt. On April 19th I was scheduled to run the Shape Magazine Women's Half Marathon in New York City in honor of Mary Glenn. Her mother Sara and many other friends were planning to come to New York to run with me, but due to COVID-19 the race has been cancelled and travel not possible. WE WILL STILL RUN AND RAISE SUPPORT! My daughters and I will run/walk 13.1 miles on the morning of April 19th as will many other faithful supporters in their own towns and cities - join us from wherever you are that morning too! Would you also please consider making a donation to support our run to raise necessary funds to further the critical work of SPTS? In such uncertain times the organization needs our help now more than ever. We are hoping to raise $10.000 so any donation is greatly appreciated.
P.S. Because I am not on social media, please do share the link with friends who you think would support this cause. #milesformaryglenn
