Our daughter Kate was a competitive Team USA swimmer and several years ago, a patient in the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital CardioVascular Intensive Care Unit. I have been fund-raising to support cardiac research ever since by competing in long distance running and cycling events.
Kate is now a college senior in an RN degree program and has completed 3 student nurse summer internships in Cardiology and is now particiating in her Clinical training in several Portland, Oregon hospitals. Kate was recently inducted to International Nursing Society for being in top of her class and is also tutoring incoming student nurses.
I am very committed to supporting and fundraising for Dr. MacRae, a cardiologist and geneticist (and simply a very very nice person) whose clinical interests include how research findings can be systematically implemented into clinical care. Dr. MacRae works on understanding the mechanisms of heart and vascular disease-especially cardiomyopathies. His lab has developed new models for drug discovery in these diseases including ARVC. He is Chief of Cardiovascular Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.
I am now on the Research Commitee for the SADS Foundation. https://www.sads.org/
In 2019 to continu my fundraising for Dr MacRae, I am competing in these events:
Nov 1-2, 2019: Boreggo Springs Ca. World Championship Cycling Time Trail. Hope to break my record from last year of 122.4 miles.
Dec 7, 2019: Death Valley trail Half Marathon in Titus Canyon. My goal is to survive and cross Finish Line smiling
My fundraising goal is $1,500 and I need your help! I'll run and cycle again.
